The artist's most frequent 'physical' use of the * is in sms's with his lover (much more meaningful, he says, than "x" or even "xxx"). But in his artwork (which uses many media, including video, sound, photography and conceptual drawing), the * resurfaces as an elliptical "doppler-effect" of omission/cancelling out/exaggeration of the obvious. In this sense, the * is most interesting when used as footnote-deepener/doubler/confusor.
